Rafael Costa focuses on growth stage investing for Vulcan Capital and is based in Palo Alto. Rafael is responsible for targeting high-growth companies in the technology sector. He has been closely involved in Vulcan's investments in Dataminr, Emotive, Grab, Intercom, Loft, Nelogica, Neon, Signal Sciences, TraceLink and Wildlife Studios.
Prior to joining Vulcan Capital, Rafael worked at Summit Partners, a global growth equity firm where he was responsible for originating, conducting diligence on and supporting private investments in enterprise software, communications technology and Internet companies for Summit’s Growth Equity Technology team. He was actively involved in the firm’s investment in Fuze (formerly ThinkingPhones) and across Summit’s technology portfolio, including Access Information Management. Previously, Rafael worked as an investment banker in the Global Technology, Media and Telecom group at UBS Investment Bank in New York where he advised technology companies on a wide range of financial and strategic matters including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity offering and leveraged buyouts.
Rafael graduated with distinction and business honors from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, where he earned a BS in Finance, Accounting and Entrepreneurship & Corporate innovation.
