Steve Hall works on the Venture Capital team at Vulcan Capital. Steve oversees Vulcan’s investments in a number of portfolio companies including Off-Grid Electric, High Fidelity, Zipline, Denali Therapeutics, TAE Technologies and Sun Basket and additionally serves on the non-profit boards of the Allen Institute for Brain Science and the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence. During Steve’s tenure at Vulcan, he has overseen early-stage investments in over 50 portfolio companies including Redfin (RDFN), Turi (Apple), Juno Therapeutics (JUNO), Bizo (LinkedIn), PTC Therapeutics (PTCT), Gist (BlackBerry), Decide.com (eBay), SportStream (Facebook), Audience (ADNC), BiPar Sciences (Sanofi-Aventis), Vulcan Spectrum (AT&T and TMO) and ZoomInfo (Great Hill).
Steve began venture investing at Prospect Street Ventures, and his prior exits include About.com (NY Times), Multex Systems (Reuters), Live Advice (AT&T) and Bigfoot Interactive (Alliance Data). He was formerly a corporate attorney with White & Case in New York, where he focused on M&A and securities transactions.
Steve received his double BA in business administration and political science from Furman University and JD from Columbia University Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He has been a frequent guest lecturer on venture capital investing and deal structuring at Columbia, UCLA and Boulder law schools.
